Xystichromis phytophagus, previously categorized as a Haplochromis, is a species of fish in the Cichlidae family. It was once found in the Ugandan waters of Lake Victoria near Jinja and Bunjako and Kisumu Bay Kenya. Today this species is found in Lake Kanyaboli Kenya, a small lake in the Yala Basin. The survival of their species depends on hobbyists and captive breeding programs.
